TCRG ARCA Charity Race
| By Joe Evans - Wednesday September 03 2008 - 14:01:46 |
|
The folks at "The Charity Racing Group" (TCRG) are putting on another great charity event. Visit thier website for more details http://tcrg.info
The Stakes: The Charity Racing Group is offering another opportunity for anyone to race on RLMtv with over $500.00 worth of prizes at stake! We are growing in popularity and for this race we are very proud to announce that our first place sponsor is Playseats with their Playseats Black product http://www.playseats.com . This is an awesome racing seat set up that will immerse you into any sim or game. This is a very generous donation by Playseat. TCRG is very proud to be able to offer such a great prize to the winner and we hope to continue to advance our relationship with Playseats in the future!
Our sponsor for 2nd place is Natural Point with their TRACKIR product. http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir . This device allows you to just move your head to change your view of the race track. Check out the videos in the link. What an awesome product that also enables immersion into any sim or game.
We will also offer a Butt Kicker device as a 3rd place prize. This product as of now is being donated by a member of TCRG. http://www.thebuttkicker.com . This is a device that produces low frequency sounds. Just mount it to your chair and feel the rumble of your car on the track.
Thank you very much Playseats and Natural Point for your support of our racing community. We also want to thank RLMtv Announcers Deryl Morley and Michael Richey for their support of the charity.
The Race: The event will take place on October 12th at 3:00 pm Eastern at Rockingham. We will race for 200 laps to ensure that everyone gets their money’s worth of racing. We encourage leagues to field a team to represent your league or for individuals to participate on their own. RLMtv, the leader in online sim racing broadcasting will broadcast the event. Your friends and family will be able to watch you race live on RLMtv’s live feed. TCRG reserves the right to move to larger track if necessary. TCRG has some very fast drivers. It has been our experience that some of the quickest ARCA Sim Racers show up for these races.
The Charity: DAVID'S HOUSE offers a comfortable home-away-from-home for children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Children aren't medical patients or motel guests at David's House; they are part of their own family in a quality home-like atmosphere. When the child cannot leave the Medical Center, David's House is for the families of these children--a retreat where they can stay to find, and give, support to their child and to each other.
The Charity Racing Group chooses charities that have a low overhead so that our donations benefit those in need and not to pay high salaries of administrators. In this case 82% of our donation will benefit those in need.
TCRG does not financially benefit from any of our races. 100% of our proceeds go to the charity of choice. http://www.davids-house.org We own our servers and have a low overhead ourselves. We are about 2 things at TCRG: 1. Donating money to those in need 2. Racing hard

Download Problems
| By Joe Evans - Thursday August 28 2008 - 10:20:00 |
|
Some users are reporting issues downloading files from this site and I have been able to confirm that at times only a small part of the file is downloaded. This seams to happen mostly when using IE as the browser, I haven't seen the issue yet with Firefox.
I've uploaded all of the current CUP tracks and the version 1.1 track pack to my FileFront site in order to offer an alternative for getting the track files until I can find the issues with this sites downloads. The track pack is is listed last on the page and after installing it you will need to download and install these updated tracks that were released after the pack.

My FileFront page can be accessed at http://hosted.filefront.com/joe03/2286847
Tip: Use the "Download Now" link on the right for direct download of the file.

|
All JNS CUP tracks have been updated to fix some issues and add overall improvements. We have also added replacement tracks for Charlotte, Texas, and Michigan. These tracks now have multiple grooves to enhance the racing. Darlington has a face lift to reflect the new repaving done at that track. The physics on all 2008 tracks have been adjusted to work better with SCE v.995+.
Patch v1.1 This patch will update all of the JNS CUP tracks from the first track pack to version 1.1. If you don't have track pack v1.0 then download the Track pack v1.1 instead of this patch. Install this patch by extracting the exe file from the downloaded zip file to a temp location on your system and double-click on it. Make any corrections that may be needed to the default game location shown (C:\Program Files\rFactor\) and click the unzip button. Track Pack Full v1.1 This pack contains all of the current cup style tracks. Install the track pack by extracting the exe file from the downloaded zip file to a temp location on your system and double-click on it. Make any corrections that may be needed to the default game location shown (C:\Program Files\rFactor\) and click the unzip button.
Individual Cup Tracks All tracks included in the track pack can be downloaded individually if you only need a few of tracks. Install the track by extracting the exe file from the downloaded zip file to a temp location on your system and double-click on it. Make any corrections that may be needed to the default game location shown (C:\Program Files\rFactor\) and click the unzip button.

JNSTexas Speedway Updated
| By Joe Evans - Monday March 31 2008 - 14:56:32 |
|
This is a completely updated JNSTexas track to replace the one included in the track pack. This track will be added to the Track Pack patch due out soon. Until then you can download this track and install it, it will replace the older track. This track now includes 3 grooves to allow a better racing experience.
These tracks should be considered fictional as they do not exactly duplicate any real world tracks. They can be substituted for real world tracks that these closely resemble.
In order to remain compatible with rFactor mods made before 2008 we had to use a different folder structure. Once the tracks are installed and you start the game you will now see a “2007 JNS Tracks” and a “2008 JNS Tracks” categories listed in your track list. Expand the category you need and all of the tracks in that category will show up. The 2007 tracks are better suited for use with the SCE .98, NSS and many other mods. The 2008 tracks are designed to be used with the SCE .99 and beyond.
The main difference between the 2007 and 2008 tracks is in the tracks physics, grip, tire heat and wear. Either set of tracks can be used with any mods but results could be quite different, I suggest trying the different track sets and use what works best for you.In order to install these tracks and avoid conflicts with my older tracks you will need to REMOVE your current “JNS_Tracks\TrackName” folder and any HAT files that may be in your "rFactor\userdata\log\hat" folder. Now you can install this track by extracting the exe file from the downloaded zip file to a temp location on your system and double-click on it. Make any corrections that may be needed to the default game location shown (C:\Program Files\rFactor\) and click the unzip button.
That’s it, now can fire up the game and go racing.
